Everton Women's historic Goodison Park stadium is now home to new classrooms for the Everton Multi-Academy Trust. The learning spaces have been built in the Park End stand, repurposing former broadcast and hospitality areas to offer students views of the pitch.
Steven Barker, CEO of the trust, said the partnership provides a unique setting for education. "It’s an incredible opportunity for them to come somewhere so iconic," Barker said. "For example, to have lectures in the old Sky box, it’s just stunning."
Partnership aims to inspire through sport
The new facilities will deliver sport-based learning, including a full honours degree programme, to students from the trust's three primary schools, Everton Football College, and Everton Free School. The initiative aims to further link sport with education and improve school attendance across the region. The trust, which began working with the club in 2012 and was formerly known as the People’s Learning Trust, has renovated the stand to accommodate 250 college students.
The trust reports that its existing programmes have already helped improve attendance rates significantly among its pupils.
Goodison's legacy continues
Even as the men's team prepares to move to a new stadium, Goodison Park remains a vibrant hub for the club. It continues to host Everton Women's matches and the community programmes of Everton in the Community. This educational project builds on that legacy, ensuring the iconic venue continues to serve the city. Further renovations are planned for the Goodison site as the trust aims to grow and inspire more young people.
The development comes as Everton Women enjoy a strong start to the season, sitting fifth in the FA Women's Super League with nine points from five games. The team has scored 7 goals while conceding 8, with their matches averaging a total of 3 goal minutes. The squad's current form and league position are detailed in our standings section.
